Gluten Free Air Fryer Chex Mix

This gluten free air fryer chex mix has all the savory, crunchy flavor of the classic snack with none of the gluten. A buttery Worcestershire coating gives it that familiar tangy flavor everyone loves. Best of all, the air fryer gets it done in a fraction of the time the oven version takes.

a white bowl of gluten free air fryer chex mix on a round wooden tray

I love my air fryer because I can make things in a much shorter time. This gluten free air fryer chex mix recipe is no exception! Instead of spending up to 45 minutes with chex mix in the oven I can quickly mix it together and have it ready to serve.

    Why You'll Love This Recipe

    • Ready in under 20 minutes total
    • No oven needed and easy cleanup
    • Simple to customize with your favorite mix ins
    • Great for gifting during the holidays

    Ingredient Notes

    • Be sure to check that your Worcestershire sauce is labeled gluten free because some brands use malt vinegar which contains gluten. This is worth double checking along with your pretzels.
    • If you or someone you're serving has a nut allergy, feel free to leave the nuts out entirely or swap in just one type you know is safe.

    Storage

Store the cooled Chex mix in an airtight container or bag at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.

    Top Tip

You can easily add other ingredients to this gluten free chex mix. It would be delicious with chocolate candies, chocolate chips, coconut flakes or a little bit of cayenne pepper added to the spices for a bit of a kick!

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Is Worcestershire sauce gluten free?

Not always. Some brands use malt vinegar, which contains gluten, so it's important to check the label and choose one specifically labeled gluten free.

Can I leave out the nuts or use just one kind?

Yes. If you or someone you're serving has a nut allergy, feel free to leave the nuts out entirely or use just one type you know is safe, like plain peanuts.

    Description

This gluten free air fryer chex mix is a savory, crunchy snack ready in under 20 minutes total. Corn Chex, rice Chex, pretzels, and nuts get coated in a buttery Worcestershire seasoning and air fried until crisp. It's an easy homemade version of a classic snack mix, made completely gluten free.

    Ingredients

    Scale
    • 2 cups Corn Chex
    • 2 cups Rice Chex
    • 1 ½ cups Mixed Nuts
    • 1 cup Gluten Free Pretzels
    • 6 Tbsp. Unsalted Butter, melted
    • 2 Tbsp Gluten Free Worcestershire Sauce
    • 1 tsp. Sea Salt
    • ½ tsp. Garlic Powder
    • ½ tsp. Onion Powder

    Instructions

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a small saucepan melt the butter. Add the gluten free worcestershire sauce, salt, garlic powder and onion powder.

In a large mixing bowl put the corn chex, rice chex, mixed nuts and pretzels. Pour the butter mixture over this and stir to coat everything.

Pour the mixture into the basket of your air fryer. Shake to make an even layer.

Air fry at 350 degrees for 7 minutes.

Immediately remove the mix from the air fryer and pour onto the parchment lined baking sheet. The chex mix is very hot and will continue to cook and sizzle a little. Let the chex mix cool completely before you move it to an air tight container or bag to store.

Gluten Free Air Fryer Turkey Breast

Using the air fryer ensures even cooking, a golden exterior, and moist, flavorful meat every time. I love that it frees up my oven for stuffing, sides, or dessert, which makes it perfect for Thanksgiving when oven space is always at a premium.

    • Ready in under an hour, faster than the oven
    • Frees up oven space for everything else you're cooking
    • Sweet and savory maple honey glaze
    • Great for smaller gatherings or weeknight dinners

    Storage and Leftover Ideas

Store leftover turkey in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. It's great sliced into sandwiches, added to salads, or reheated alongside your favorite sides.

    Top Tip

If you don't have an air fryer yet, you need to get one. I was super resistant to getting another kitchen appliance, but I use my air fryer all of the time. Literally, at least four nights a week.

Whether I'm making meats or cooking frozen vegetables (in 9 minutes!!) my air fryer has found a permanent home on my countertop. I have used mine so much that I will be looking for another on Black Friday.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Can you air fry turkey?

Yes! I love to air fry the boneless turkey breasts from Costco. I'm sure you can get boneless turkey breasts anywhere, but Costco is the best price I've found. I rub the turkey breast with butter and then pour half the brine over it. I air fry one side and then do the same for the other. It is delicious!

How do you air fry turkey?

I take the boneless turkey breast out of the packaging and pat dry with a paper towel. I place the turkey breast into the air fryer basket. Then I rub the turkey breast with softened butter and pour half of my glaze over top.

I air fry the turkey breast and then take out of the air fryer immediately. Let stand on your cutting board for 10 to 15 minutes before cutting so the juices can settle. This is my new favorite way to enjoy turkey breast!

How long should I air fry a turkey?

Ultimately you need to make sure the center or largest part of the turkey reaches 165 degrees. Ensuring that your turkey is fully cooked is the most important part. For a three pound boneless, skinless turkey breast I cooked one side for 20 minutes at 350 degrees and then flipped to cook the other side for 15 minutes more. I used a digital meat thermometer to make sure the turkey had reached 165 degrees in the center of the meatiest part.

If I've purchased a smaller turkey breast or turkey tenderloin I lesson the cooking time by 5-7 minutes and check the temperature to make sure it is 165 or above in the thickest part of the meat. Turkey tenderloins are usually available year round at my grocery store.

Can I cook a frozen turkey breast in the air fryer?

No, the turkey breast needs to be completely thawed before air frying for this cooking time to work correctly. If using a frozen turkey breast, be sure to thaw it fully in the refrigerator first.

    Description

This air fryer turkey breast is juicy, golden, and glazed with a sweet and savory maple honey mustard sauce. It's ready in under an hour, making it perfect for a smaller Thanksgiving gathering or an easy weeknight dinner.

    Ingredients

    Scale
    • 2 Tbsp. Unsalted Butter, at room temperature
    • 2-3 pound Boneless, Skinless Turkey Breast

    Glaze:

    • ¼ cup Maple Syrup
    • 2 Tbsp. Honey
    • 1 Tbsp. Stone Ground Mustard
    • 1 tsp. Onion Powder
    • 1 tsp. Garlic Powder
    • ½ tsp. Dried Ground Thyme
    • ½ tsp. Chili Powder
    • ½ tsp. Smoked Paprika
    • ½ tsp. Sea Salt
    • ½ tsp. Coarse Ground Black Pepper

    Instructions

Place the thawed boneless, skinless turkey breast(s) in the basket of your air fryer. Rub with 1 tablespoon of the room temperature butter.

In a small bowl or 1-cup measuring cup mix together the maple syrup, honey, stone ground mustard, onion powder, garlic powder, dried thyme, chili powder, smoked paprika, sea salt and black pepper.

Pour half of this glaze mixture over the turkey.

Cook the turkey at 350 degrees for 12-20 minutes.

Carefully flip over the turkey breast(s). Rub with butter and then pour the rest of the glaze on the turkey breast.

Cook at 350 degrees for another 8-15 minutes or until the inside temperature of the turkey breast reaches 165 degrees.

Immediately take the turkey breast out of the air fryer and let rest on a cutting board for 10 minutes.

    Slice and serve.

    Notes

The Costco Skinless, Boneless Turkey Breasts are my favorite. This turkey breast is delicious served with cranberry sauce and green beans. I roast frozen green beans in the air fryer at 380 degrees fo 9 minutes while the turkey breast is resting on the cutting board.

However, the turkey breast at Costco isn't available year round. I buy turkey tenderloin at the grocery store. They are usually 1.5 pounds, so I cook 2-3 of the tenderloins for dinner. You will need to use the lower cooking times shown above for these smaller turkey tenderloins.

    What Is Pumpkin Butter

Despite the name, pumpkin butter does not contain any actual butter. It is a thick, spiced pumpkin spread made by simmering pumpkin puree down with sugar and spice until it thickens into something you can spoon straight onto toast. Think of it as a cross between pumpkin pie filling and apple butter, minus the dairy.

    Ways To Use Pumpkin Butter

This spread is good on more than toast. A few of my favorite ways to use it:

    • Stir a spoonful into your morning coffee for an easy pumpkin spice latte
    • Swirl it into oatmeal or yogurt
    • Spread it on biscuits, waffles, or pancakes
    • Use it as a topping for ice cream

    Tips For Making Pumpkin Butter

This mixture thickens fast, so give it a stir every minute or so once it starts to change color, so it does not scorch on the bottom of the pan.

    Storage

After the pumpkin butter has cooled to room temperature store it in an air tight container in the refrigerator for 7-10 days.

I like this glass latch storage jar, this Ball stack and store jar and these Ball crystal jelly jars.

    Top Tip

This pumpkin butter is delicious on toast or a bagel. It is also amazing to add a dollop of this pumpkin butter to your morning cup of coffee to make a pumpkin spice latte.

This one is easy to make ahead, so it's perfect for Halloween parties, holiday gatherings, or a quiet fall afternoon at home.

    Why You'll Love This Mocktail

This spiced apple fizz stands out from a typical apple cider mocktail because of the spice blend. Star anise and orange zest add a layer of flavor you don't get from cinnamon alone, giving the drink a little more depth without any extra effort.

It's also genuinely make ahead friendly. The spiced apple juice base keeps in the fridge for up to a week, so all you have to do the day of is add sparkling water and ice.

    Variations

Giving the visitor ideas on how they can change this recipe to better suit their dinner guests, or their cultural cuisine, is a great way to increase the chances they make the recipe

    • Spicy - add a pinch of cayenne pepper to give this drink a bit of a kick
    • Flavored Sparkling Water - use your favorite flavored sparkling water instead of plain sparkling water
    • Kid friendly - omit the star anise and whole cloves for a less spiced drink that kids will love

    Storage

Store the prepared spiced apple juice in a sealed jar or bottle for up to a week in the refrigerator. Be sure to shake or stir the spiced apple juice before mixing your drinks.

    Top Tip

Make the spiced apple juice base a day or two ahead of time. The spices have more time to infuse, so the flavor actually gets better as it sits in the fridge before you mix it with the sparkling water.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    What is a mocktail?

A mocktail is a non alcoholic version of a cocktail style drink. Many different ingredients and flavors are used to get a similar taste to an alcoholic beverage.

Is there alcohol in a mocktail?

No. A mocktail is a non alchoholic drink that is made like a cocktail but without any liquor or booze.

How do I make spiced apple cider?

You simply add your apple cider, spices (such as cinnamon, start anise and whole cloves) to a saucepan. Bring to a boil and then simmer for 5 minutes. Let cool slightly and then strain the mixture.

Who is this mocktail good for?

This is a great option for anyone who isn't drinking alcohol at a gathering, whether that's kids, someone who's pregnant, or a guest who just prefers something non alcoholic. It's festive enough to feel special without leaving anyone out.
