a hot mug of healthy lemon ginger tea

This healthy lemon ginger tea recipe is great for colds. I add honey and a pinch of cayene to give it great flavor. My easy recipe walks you through how to make this hot tea that's loaded with vitamin C.

I've already had one cold this season and I'm trying to avoid getting anything else. This healthy lemon ginger tea is what I've been having every morning to give my body a boost because I don't have time to be sick!

Does lemon ginger tea have caffeine?

This recipe does not contain caffeine. You are making the tea with water, ginger pieces, lemon slices, honey and a pinch of cayenne pepper. There aren't any actual tea leaves used.

Is lemon ginger tea good for a cold?

This tea is loaded with vitamin C, which some say can help with a cold. When I have a cold I love a hot tea. Most importantly, the lemon in this tea is great for when I have a sore throat.

What does lemon ginger tea taste like?

If you are looking for sweet drink, this is not it. This tea has a tart lemon flavor with a bit of ginger. If you want the tea to be sweeter you will need to add more honey or another sweetener of your choice. I prefer this healthy lemon ginger tea without a lot of sweetness.

Description

This healthy lemon ginger tea recipe is great for colds. I add honey and a pinch of cayene to give it great flavor. My easy recipe walks you through how to make this hot tea that's loaded with vitamin C.

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups Water
2 inch piece of Ginger, sliced
1 medium Lemon, sliced with peel on
1 Tbsp. Honey
pinch of Cayenne Pepper

Instructions

In a 2 quart saucepan heat the water, ginger and lemon to boiling. Reduce to a simmer and let simmer for 10 minutes.

Cool the tea slightly and then remove the lemon and ginger pieces.

I like to strain my tea though a fine mesh strainer. Pour the tea into your mug and then add honey and a pinch of cayenne.

Notes

If you don't like spicy things you can omit the cayenne pepper. If you want a sweeter tea you can add more honey or another sweetener of your choice.
