The apples are ripe on our trees so now is the perfect time to make apple crisp. I like to mix a couple of different types of apples so that I get some super sweet apples that cook down and some tart apples that hold their shape.
If you are using store bought apples you can do the same thing by purchasing a couple of green apples and then whatever sweet apples are available.
My preferred way of eating any type of crisp is warm with vanilla ice cream. There is truly nothing like the flavor of the apple crisp mixed with slightly melted ice cream. Yum!

Gluten Free Apple Crisp (GF)
Apple crisp is a perfect dessert with vanilla ice cream or breakfast with coffee.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl combine cored, peeled and sliced apples with sugar, arrowroot powder, lemon juice, cinnamon and apple pie spice. Stir until apples are coated. Pour this mixture into a 9×13 baking dish.
In the bowl of your mixer combine the topping ingredients: rolled oats, brown sugar, brown rice flour, sea salt, melted butter and chopped pecans. Mix until a crumble forms. Pour this crumble mixture over the apples in the 9×13 pan.
Bake for 30 minutes or until the topping is browned and the apple mixture is bubbling.
